Media Arts
The Media Department at Al-Taqwa College has been a dynamic part of our school community since 2015, guided by the vision of Principal Mr Omar Hallak. Built on a foundation of creativity, collaboration, and real-world learning, the department offers students from Year 1 to Secondary the opportunity to explore and thrive in the world of media arts.
Through engaging incursions and excursions, students gain hands-on experience in filmmaking, broadcasting, and storytelling. These practical experiences are complemented by classroom learning that equips them with essential media terminology, technical skills, and digital literacy.
We are proud to enter external film competitions, where students gain industry exposure, receive professional feedback, and showcase their work on wider platforms—an experience that builds both confidence and ambition.
But the benefits go far beyond technical skills. Participation in media arts helps students become:
-
- More creative thinkers, able to develop ideas visually and narratively
- More confident individuals, ready to speak up and present themselves on camera and on stage
- Better communicators, capable of expressing thoughts, emotions, and messages clearly
- Effective collaborators, who learn to work in teams and contribute meaningfully
- Public speakers, comfortable sharing ideas in front of a crowd
Students are regularly involved in exciting productions such as live news shows, short films, and dramatic performances, where they step into roles as directors, actors, presenters, editors, and more. At the heart of our work is a commitment to developing students’ understanding of media language, filmmaking techniques, and digital storytelling. Through projects like live news shows, drama performances, and acting workshops, students explore the full spectrum of media production—from writing scripts and filming to editing and presenting
Our vision is to empower students to express themselves confidently and creatively, while preparing them to navigate and contribute to the media-rich world around them.
