A Purposeful Start to 2025 at Al-Taqwa College
Term 1, 2025 has set a strong and promising tone for the academic year at Al-Taqwa College. With a focus on learning, wellbeing, and spiritual growth, students, staff and families have worked collaboratively to ensure a successful beginning to the year.
Leadership Reflections
College leadership acknowledged the dedication of students, the tireless efforts of staff, and the invaluable support from families throughout the term—particularly during the blessed month of Ramadan. The shared commitment to learning, growth and community spirit was a key feature of the term.
Early Years and Primary
Foundation to Year 2 students settled in confidently, engaging in foundational literacy and numeracy, a swimming program, and a range of enriching learning activities. Parent information sessions were well attended, strengthening the partnership between school and home. In Years 3 to 5, students deepened their learning through excursions to the Botanical Gardens, Polly Woodside and Sovereign Hill—bringing history, culture and environmental studies to life.
Junior School Highlights (Years 6–9)
Students in the middle years embraced leadership opportunities, co-curricular activities and classroom learning with enthusiasm. Highlights included student-led assemblies, STEM excursions, wellbeing workshops and after-school Homework Club sessions. Ramadan brought with it meaningful opportunities for personal reflection, creativity and service to others, contributing to a positive and inclusive school culture.
Senior Years (Years 10–12)
Senior students commenced the year with clear goals, exploring post-school pathways through university workshops, guest speakers and alumni visits. A memorable Iftaar gathering, pastoral care sessions, and a student-led fundraiser that raised nearly $8,000 for orphans overseas demonstrated a balance between academic focus and community contribution.
Islamic Enrichment and Ramadan Activities
The AIQ Department delivered a range of Ramadan programs, from Qur’an memorisation and themed class discussions to a daily quiz and guest speaker sessions. These initiatives supported students in deepening their connection to faith and values.
Co-Curricular and Wellbeing Initiatives
The launch of the Khidma and Da’wah Programs added new dimensions to the College’s co-curricular offering, fostering student leadership and service. A wide variety of activities—including martial arts, scouts, creative writing and sport—enabled students to grow beyond the classroom. The Student Wellbeing team continued to play a key role in creating a safe, supportive and vibrant environment across all year levels.
Library and Literacy Development
The Library Department expanded its programs, promoting reading through book clubs, digital platforms and community partnerships. Looking ahead, students can anticipate participation in Book Week, the Premier’s Reading Challenge, and other initiatives that cultivate a love of literature.
Looking Ahead
With a successful first term behind us, the College looks forward to building on this momentum in Term 2. The collective efforts of students, staff and families have laid a strong foundation for continued growth, achievement and wellbeing.
