AIQ Secondary
At Al-Taqwa College, the AIQ Secondary Department plays a pivotal role in shaping our students’ Islamic identity, Arabic proficiency, and Qur’anic literacy throughout their formative years. From Year 6 to Year 12, our dedicated team nurtures confident, responsible young Muslims who are spiritually grounded, academically capable, and prepared to thrive as proud Australian Muslims.
Through a rich and balanced program, students are immersed in the values, language, and teachings of Islam, deepening their connection to their faith and the wider world.

Students develop confidence in reading, writing, speaking, and understanding Arabic in ways that are meaningful and practical. Whether new to the language or continuing from primary school, every learner is supported to progress and connect with the language of the Qur’an.
With a focus on applying Islamic teachings to real life, students explore key values, ethics, and stories from our tradition. The aim is to inspire them to live as responsible and mindful Muslims in today’s world.
Students engage in memorisation, Tajweed, and reflection on the meanings and messages of the Qur’an. The experience is structured to build fluency and understanding—ensuring every student strengthens their connection to the Book of Allah.
Our specialised programs are designed to nurture character, leadership, and a deeper connection to faith:
Hifdh Program: Focused on advanced memorisation and Tajweed, with pathways to participate in our Annual Qur’an Competition. Khutbah & Da’wah Training: Prepares students to deliver Friday sermons, speak publicly, and represent Islamic values with confidence.
Hadith Program: Students learn and apply Hadith in daily life to shape strong moral character. Athaan Program: Students are guided in perfecting the Athaan and Iqamah, contributing to the spiritual environment of our school mosque. Arabic Poetry: A creative avenue to engage with classical Islamic literature and enhance language appreciation.

As part of our evolving approach to meaningful education, we’ve introduced two key programs in partnership with the Extracurricular Team:
Kidma Program: Encouraging students to serve others with humility, this program instils the value of contribution—through leadership roles, volunteerism, and acts of kindness across school life and the broader community.
Community Da’wah Program: Designed to build confidence in sharing the message of Islam, students learn to communicate with wisdom and respect in diverse settings, becoming thoughtful ambassadors of their faith.
Throughout the school year, students participate in events that bring Islamic learning to life:
Ramadan Activities: From assemblies to creative projects, students reflect, celebrate, and contribute.
Arabic Week & Hajj Week: Engaging, hands-on activities deepen language learning and Islamic knowledge.
Masjid Al-Aqsa Week: A powerful, immersive experience that helps students connect with sacred Islamic history.
Esteemed Guest Speakers: We host respected scholars and thought leaders from across the globe to inspire our students with real-world insights into living Islam with purpose.

We believe that a strong partnership with parents is key to every child’s success. Our department regularly invites families to participate in open days, parent information sessions, and community events. These touchpoints allow parents to stay informed, ask questions, and become active contributors to their child’s educational and spiritual journey.
“The AIQ Secondary experience is more than just school—it’s a meaningful pathway that prepares young Muslims to lead, serve, and thrive with heart and faith.”
