Our Career
  • Help students make informed choices about their educational and career pathways
  • Highlight the connection between classroom learning and future career opportunities
  • Equip students with the adaptability to thrive in a rapidly evolving workforce

By focusing on personal development and practical experience, our program enables students to envision and prepare for meaningful, fulfilling careers that align with their individual strengths and interests.

Year 10

At Al-Taqwa College, our Year 10 Careers Education program supports students in planning meaningful career pathways. Through self-awareness and understanding of training requirements, they begin shaping their futures with purpose. A key feature is the work experience week, offering real-world insight and industry exposure. Students also explore how global trends like economic, social, and technological changes impact work, learning the value of adaptability and networking. Each student develops a Career Action Plan to outline their preferred and backup pathways, equipping them to navigate future opportunities with confidence.

Year 11

At Al-Taqwa College, the Year 11 Careers Education program helps students refine their Career Action Plans and align them with their skills, achievements, and future goals. Through one-on-one guidance, university and TAFE visits, and our Careers Expo, students explore study and work options. They identify at least one career pathway, reflect on experiences like volunteering and paid work, and recognise transferable skills.

The program promotes critical reflection, goal-setting, and resilience. Students also prepare a professional résumé and access online resources and mentor support to build self-management skills. Integrated into the senior curriculum, the program prepares them to confidently plan for life after school.

Year 12

In Year 12, Al-Taqwa students refine their Career Action Plans, focusing on solidifying goals and understanding the requirements for further study, training, or work. Whether pursuing university, a gap year, or entering the workforce, students prepare by setting short-term goals, tailoring résumés, practicing interviews, and building networks.

A key part of the program is support with VTAC applications, with advisors guiding course selection and application processes. Students also benefit from one-on-one support, university and training institute visits, and our Careers Expo. By year’s end, they build a portfolio showcasing their skills and experiences, gaining the confidence and tools needed to take their next steps.
